I can’t thank you Pirates enough for building this ship and setting sail to uncharted waters! It is beginning to spark some ideas that I’m working to bring to reality to help those that are in a position I was in 5+ years ago.
Ahhh, position yourself or be positioned. So true. I've been the victim of this and I've witnessed many people I've worked with over the years, be positioned. I'm still working on my own personal category design, but I have already seen tremendous growth from the work I have done and I owe much of that to Category Pirates and mini books like this one.
Still working on how I can further niche down, but I'll say being a category design evangelist has helped a great deal. It's a powerful conversation to have with founders, to ask them to zoom out and take a category lens on their business. And I 100% agree, if they understand the problem category design is meant to solve, they will tell you the big problems they're having, what's frustrating about the existing category and what they dream it could be. It's almost magical and a completely different world, than just talking about 'brand' or traditional 'marketing'.
THANK you Category Pirates team for the work you're doing, it's a constant source of inspiration.
I still have so much more of your content to consume, to think about and apply. But I am definitely interested in receiving coaching or consulting with you all if that's something you offer!? Even a one off would be awesome! You guys are providing so much value! I just found you all today, can't wait to learn more.
