I really enjoyed this conversation! I think it resonates with me because I seek relationships within my workplace to help others and myself drive mission and success while having fun. Sure I’ve been burned but mostly it’s been rewarding!!
So much great content in this discussion. The only counter-point I might make to one of Christopher's statements is that legendary relationships can also be forged outside of doing legendary work. While in Internal Audit earlier in my career, we had a team working at a business unit in beautiful Ashland, Ohio. The b/u was so messed up that our project was extended multiple times / weeks. Was the work legendary? Really good perhaps, but we certainly weren't Seal Team 6 on mission to get bin Laden. However, the relationships deepened in the trenches there (and thankfully some more cosmopolitan places) continue some 20+ years later.
"In the trenches" is exactly right, Kevin. You all connected around a shared mission and goal and worked through it together.
Legendary work is different for everyone — only a few will ever be Seal Team 6. But if it matters to you and makes an impact for others, it's legendary

Glad to hear it, Deb. Great relationships are worth a burn from time to time. And the more deep relationships you develop, the less you get burned.
Having fun with people you love to work with is so important!

There are 4 Life Currencies,
- Time
- Energy (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual)
- Relationship
- Money
Relationships are always the most valuable currency and money is the least valuble.
Also there is an exchange rate when you try to swap one for the other.
This is a concept I dove deep into for 2 years that helped me see the world through a new lens.
So glad to see you talking about relationship capital/currency.
